JBL Speartips are great choices when hunting around rocks and reef. They withstand abuse and rocks much better than sliptips when hunting holes or rocky reefs. The Halibut Special is our favorite for hunting halibut because of the short distance between the tip and the end of the floppers. This means you only have to penetrate the sand 3 inches to engage the floppers compared to the normal 5" penetration of normal tips.
